Editorial Review for The Broadmoor Golf – by Jerry Walters

The Courses
Built against the mountains in Colorado Springs, each course has generous fairways and challenging greens. Given the mild climate, golf can be played year-round, with occasional interruptions for snow during the winter.

The Experience
The East Course was built in 1917 and when it opened, was the highest 18-hole course in the country. It features tree-lined fairways and large, undulating greens. The West Course was completed in 1964 and is considered more challenging of the two due to its steeply sloped greens. The newest and shortest of the triad is the Mountain Course, opened in 1976 and known for its natural mountainous terrain. All putts break away from the Will Rogers Shrine on Cheyenne Mountain.

Insider Tips

Signature Hole

No. 9--540 yards, par 5: Dogleg left with a tee shot through a chute of trees. Best to hit a draw tee shot, as the fairway slants to the right. Water sits in front of a well-guarded, two-tiered green.

Forgot about the mountain course...you want to play the East course. It starts out easy, but as you make the loop...LOOK OUT. Of course, you myst play it from the Tips.

Editor's Review

With three courses lying at the base of the Rockies, this is a golfer's heaven.  See the full editorial review.
